Edit and upload free MP3s and MP3 ring tones to your Blue Tooth enabled cell phone

A simple procedure for editing and uploading free MP3s and MP3 ring tones to your mobile phone blue tooth enabled. Total cost is about ten dollars for software and equipment.

Background (SKIP this if you want)

I am a do it yourself kind of person and a miser. When I got my phone a Motorola V550 bought (I think) I was assured that I songs to your phone could upload and download photos from my phone to my PC. The person in the store couldn't tell me how to do it but "the tech service people would know how". I spent hours on the phone with Cingular and Motorola and finally was able to send photos from the phone to my PC via emails. Everyone was talking I kept trying to get me to sell a deal surfing on the Internet. Moreover, when you pick up your phone this feature is not enabled. you don't have to sign up for a monthly plan but the phone must be turned on. I suspect that Cingular is doing this on purpose so that they can sell additional services. The only way to ringtones to be had to buy them. I paid every three or four bucks for a pair of ringtones I didn't particularly.I went along this road for about a year I bought a wire connection of USB dongle? thingy or what ever the Cingular store and still had no luck.

I was at a 4th of July get together and different people had several MP3s as ringtones on their phones. We were able to load a few on my phone via Blue tooth surprisingly easy.I asked everyone how they got the originals on their phones and everything I could learn was that "some dude with blue tooth" had some loaded and the songs were passed out from there.

From there I was on a mission. I googled and asked questions about newsgroups in vain.I was a bit surprised that the blue tooth had nothing on this site. Ditto with Motorola and Cingular. since I originally wrote this guide that I switched to an LG, same deal I think it's a secret:)

So I bought a Blue tooth dongle and figured it out myself. The good news is that it is really easy.

This is how I did it with my Motorola phone:

Buying a blue tooth USB Dongle. I paid only ten dollars. Note: Shop around, as far as I a ten dollar dongle works so well as a thirty dollar know. Prices really vary.

My phone has a ton of memory and I don't need a three-minute ringtone so I set my MP3 's to make them shorter edit. MP3 direct cut is a freebie and seems to work OK, Get it at: zdnet dot com

Install

Choose file open, choose your file

Press play

Hit set start were you want to start your music

Press set end where you want to terminate your music

Save the file (a file only for ringing tones for the sake of simplicity)

The copy of Blue Soleil that comes with the Dongle installerenhet only problem I encountered was that it was a driver from my Win XP disc that I have not asked. So I used the search feature and found it on: C:windowI386 driver.cab

Plug in your Dongle.

Choose the mp3 you want to load. set the properties of the file to share.

In Blue Soleil choose my servicespropertiesfile transfer and choose the file containing your MP3

Enable blue tooth on your phone.

Select find me on your phone.

Select object push in Blue Soleil

Accepting the file on your phone

The file will now load

Note: I've been told that blue tooth does your batteries pretty fast so I set the power to blue tooth off when I'm through.

NOW THAT YOU HAVE ALL YOUR FAVORITE TUNES ON YOUR MOBILE PHONE FOR FREE. YOU ARE NOW OFFICIALLY A D.W.D. (DUDE WITH A DONGLE)

My ringtone at this moment the Star Spangled Banner by Jimmy Hendrix I couldn't find this ringtone anywhere so I made my own.

Bonus: you can easily to down load your contact lists, photos and other files and backup on your computer. this way if you lose your phone, change providers or up to date your phone you can reload them via blue tooth. no additional pay for your provider or a third party to save your phone book!
